Four Pieces as trial for candidate conductors

12 years ago, in september 2013, my orchestra Toermalijn was looking for a successor of our conductor Herman Olij, who retired after many years of succesful musical leadership. To find the right candidate for our musical society, we devised a series of trial rehearsals. For that occasion I composed four small pieces, three minutes each, each in a different stile. And every candidate conductor had the assignment to choose one of those pieces, that were fully new to them and the musicians of our orchestra, and show their skills. Making music from the collection of black dots on paper, with our musicians. It was Peter van Beijnum, who got the job. The collection of the four pieces was at that time called “Dirigentenprobe” Now I revised and refreshed the small compositions and released them on Spotify, Soundcloud and other streaming services.

Dirigentenprobe no.1 Mars voor zittenblijvers

Dirigentenprobe no.2 Wals voor een muurbloempje

Dirigentenprobe no.3 Tango voor het linkerbeen

Dirigentenprobe no.4 Berceuse voor wakkere muzikanten
